The EL5021 connects a measuring probe or encoder with sinusoidal differential 1 VPP output directly to EtherCAT. It evaluates input frequencies up to 250 kHz. The analog signal is interpolated to a 32-bit count value. Max 24 bits come from whole periods. Max 13 bits come from the position inside one sine period. The EL5021 also detects amplitude and frequency errors. Distributed clocks (DC) allow synchronous reading with other EtherCAT input data. Encoder profiles simplify linking process data to motion control.
