General Use
Can I mix input and output types on this module?
No. The 170ADM35010C is fixed: the first 16 points are inputs, the next 16 are outputs. You cannot change their function.
What does “discrete” mean for this module?
Discrete means on/off signals. It reads simple switches (on/off) and controls devices that are either powered (on) or not (off).
Installation & Tips
Do I need an external fuse for the outputs?
The module has electronic protection. For added safety in your system, installing external fuses on the output power supply is a good practice.
An input LED is on, but my PLC doesn’t see it. Why?
The LED shows power at the terminal. The issue could be in the rack communication or PLC configuration. Check the module’s address and rack connection.
Buying Advice
I need to control a small motor starter (1A). Can this module do it?
No. The 170ADM35010C output is rated for 0.5A max. You must use its output to control an intermediate relay, and that relay would power the motor starter coil.
