FAQ & Selection Advice
What is the ESB Bus?
ESB stands for Extended Serial Bus. It is Yokogawa’s communication network for connecting controllers to remote input/output units.
Can I use this module by itself?
No. The SB401-50 is a slave module. It requires a master ESB Bus Coupler Module (EC401 or EC402) installed in the controller.
What is the difference between single and dual configuration?
Single uses one coupler for basic communication. Dual uses two couplers for redundant communication, increasing system availability.
What is a common installation error?
Installing the coupler module in the wrong FCU slot. It must go in Slot 7 (and Slot 8 for dual) for proper communication.
How do I select the correct power supply type?
The suffix ‘-50’ does not define voltage. You must specify your required voltage (100-120VAC, 220-240VAC, or 24VDC) when ordering the associated power unit or node.
