EL3001 Beckhoff EtherCAT Terminal | 1-Channel Analog Voltage Input ±10 V
The Beckhoff EL3001 is a single-channel analog input terminal for ±10 V signals. It digitizes voltage at 12-bit resolution and sends data electrically isolated to the controller. Because inputs are single-ended, they share one internal ground. The terminal offers fine granularity and 500 V isolation. LEDs show signal state directly. This module fits EtherCAT systems that need stable voltage capture.

Oiltech Controls’s Insight
- The EL3001 suits steady voltage monitoring, not fast transients.
- Its 1 kHz filter limit frequency favors low-noise industrial loops.
- Single-ended inputs need a clean common ground reference.
- 12-bit resolution is enough for most position and pressure feedback.
- For higher precision, move to 16-bit EL30xx variants instead.
Oiltech Controls Review
- Engineers value the no-configuration startup.
- The 500 V isolation protects the E-bus side well.
- FIR and IIR filters help tame noisy field signals.
- Overload display speeds up fault tracing on site.
- Pluggable ES3001 wiring saves time during swaps.

FAQ
Q: Can the EL3001 read a 0 to 10 V sensor directly?
A: Yes. The input range covers -10 to +10 V. A 0 to 10 V sensor uses only half the scale. So you lose some resolution. For best accuracy, match the sensor range to the terminal.
Q: Why does my EL3001 reading drift over time?
A: Single-ended inputs share one internal ground. Ground loops often cause drift. Use shielded cable and tie the shield at one end only. Also check that the field ground is stable.
Q: Is the EL3001 a good choice for high-speed waveform capture?
A: No. The conversion time is 0.625 ms by default. The input filter limit is 1 kHz. For fast signals, choose a higher-speed terminal with shorter conversion time.
Q: How do I pick between EL3001 and ES3001?
A: Both share the same electrical data. The ES3001 adds a pluggable wiring level. If you swap modules often, pick the ES3001. If you use fixed wiring, the EL3001 is enough.
Q: What should I check before buying a used EL3001?
A: Confirm the housing is not cracked. Check the spring terminals for damage. Ask for a test report with voltage readings. Also verify the ATEX marking if you work in Ex areas. A tested surplus unit from Oiltech Controls includes a 12-month warranty.
